DENTON COUNTY (CBSDFW.COM) – A spokesperson with Fort Worth-based MedStar Emergency Services has confirmed that a school bus carrying dozens of North Texas students has been involved in a crash.

The crash, with a passenger vehicle, happened in front of Northwest High School on F.M. 156.

The Northwest Independent School District bus, loaded with 45 students on their way to Pike Middle School, was hit by a driver pulling out of the Northwest High School parking lot. Pike Middle School and Northwest High are across the street from one another.

The car caught fire after the crash, but the person inside got out safely and the fire was quickly put out.

Officials with MedStar say no one, on the school bus or in the car, was seriously injured, but two students were taken to Texas Health Alliance hospital as a precaution. The bus driver and all the other students were safely evacuated and loaded onto another school bus.

The school district has notified parents about the incident.
