DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – An accident involving two school buses sent more than a dozen students to North Texas hospitals Tuesday morning.
According to Dallas Fire Rescue, the accident involved two Dallas County School buses. One bus apparently rear-ended the other near Royal lane and Skillman Street.
The buses were transporting Richardson ISD, middle and high school, students to summer school classes.
Together there were more than 100 students on both buses. Though all of the injuries were considered minor, 17 teens were taken to area hospitals.
“With them being minors, a lot of times if they’re complaining of any injury they need to be transported,” Dallas Fire Rescue spokesman Jason Evans said.
Parents picked up some students, who weren’t injured. Dallas County Schools sent a separate bus to take the remaining children on to classes.
Dallas police are investigating the crash.
